General Rules and Regulations

Alcohol & Drugs

Neither alcoholic beverages nor drugs may be possessed or consumed during any league games.

Cancellations

If games are cancelled because of poor weather and/or field conditions, team captains and coaches will be contacted via email or telephone at least one or two hours before scheduled game times. Once games begin, game officials are responsible for deciding whether play should continue or not.

Champions Award

League Champions will receive Championship Medals and other announcements.

Authority

The Authority, if available, of the league holds the right to override any and all rules he/she deems necessary to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of league participants and the league itself.

Pets

Pets are NOT permitted on or inside fields & gyms. We must honor the wishes & policies of facility owners.  Service dogs are permitted.

Ejection From Game

If a player is ejected from a game for any reason, he/she is suspended from the following game, including playoff games. Decisions will be made by the League administration.

Fighting

Fighting will not be tolerated. Fighting will result in the immediate ejection of all persons involved and indefinite suspension from NYCDSC entirely.

Forfeits

Teams have ten (10) minutes following the scheduled start time to field a team. If a team cannot field a team after ten (10) minutes have passed, they will be forced to forfeit the game.

If the forfeit occurs the last week of the regular season, the forfeiting team will not be permitted to play in the playoffs.

The following penalties apply as well:

1st Forfeit: Loss of game and warning notification.

2nd Forfeit: Loss of game and warning notification and potential removal from the league.

3rd Forfeit: Removal from the league without having league fees refunded.

In order to avoid this, teams are allowed to have a substitute player only during the season.

Notify via email Forfeits@deafsportsclub.org with required information – day, time, team-name, league, location. Also, explain why you feel your team will be forfeited and you may request a substituted player.

Guests

Any participant who brings a guest assumes full responsibility for the actions and/or potential injury of their guest. Guests are permitted as spectators only and may not participate in or interfere with league games. Any guest under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by an adult, as required by our insurance carrier. Alcohol, tobacco, and pets are strictly prohibited from all leagues & events.

NYCDSC and our host facilities are not responsible for lost or stolen personal property brought to the facility by league members. Players are responsible for any damage to the facility or equipment provided from the result of misuse, negligence, or reckless behavior.

Jewelry

Jewelry should not be worn during games. Jewelry may be harmful to the player and the opponent player. Such items include, but are not limited to, wristwatches, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and other facial piercings. Medical bracelets are permitted to be worn if needed. Game officials are instructed to ask players to remove all jewelry for their safety.

Player Eligibility

Teams will be comprised of adults eighteen (18) years old or older as required by our insurance carrier. Teams can have a minimum of 6 players and maximum of 12 players.

Playoff Tournament

Upon the completion of the regular season, the top four teams advance to a single-elimination playoff tournament. All teams outside the top four will play two consolation games.

Rosters

All players must register online and be listed on the team’s official roster in order to be eligible to play in a league.

Schedule

There will be 7 or 8 regular-season games and a playoff tournament at the end of each season. Upon the completion of the regular season, the top four teams advance to a single-elimination playoff tournament.

Shoes

No metal spikes permitted. No black-soled shoes permitted on gym floors.

Stolen Property

Neither NYCDSC nor facility owners are responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen personal property of participants or guests.

Team Shirt/Uniform

All players must wear a NYCDSC team shirt for the current season while playing in league games. Players not wearing their team shirt will not be permitted to play.  See T-Shirt Policy for further information.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Unsportsmanlike conduct, as judged by the game official, is grounds for immediate ejection from the game. Please respect our game officials as well. While you may not agree with all of their calls, contact us. We may or may not agree and do better for next time.

Waivers

All players must agree to NYCDSC’s liability waiver and other waivers when registering or they are not permitted to participate in NYCDSC leagues or events.
