Volunteer Policy

  • As a volunteer, you are an Ambassador for New York City Deaf Sports Club and
should treat athletes, guests, participants, other volunteers with the utmost
    courtesy and respect.
  • Attire options include clean jeans, khaki or athletic pants and comfortable shoes.
We will provide volunteer shirts for your events.
  •  Be prepared to answer many of questions.
  • Once you sign up, we depend on your commitment to being a part of New York
City Deaf Sports Club. Your prompt arrival and completion of your event are vital
to the success. When you sign up, you commit to being present for that specific
event(s) during the entire length of that event(s).
  • Up until 5 days prior to your scheduled event, you are able to change/cancel your
    day/assignment by contacting volunteer@deafsportsclub.org.
  •  If it is the day of your scheduled event and you find you cannot make it, please be
considerate and contact volunteer@deafsportsclub.org, so we can adjust our roster.
  • Our event will take place regardless of the weather. Please check the weather
and dress accordingly. We recommend dressing in layers as the weather in New
    York City can change quickly.
  • You may not consume any alcoholic beverages or smoke during your volunteer
    event.
  • You may not make personal texts or calls during your event unless it’s an emergency. If you need
to make a call/text, arrange to step away briefly.
  • Unless otherwise directed, you may not eat during your volunteer event. Please
plan on eating before/after your event.
  • Your assignment is complete when a staff member releases you. If you have not
been released at the end of your event, please contact a lead volunteer or staff
member. If you are on the course, your assignment is complete when the
balloon team passes and you have cleaned up your area.
  • Pets are not allowed with you during your volunteer event.
  • Be flexible.
  • NYCDSC reserves the right to search any bags for security reasons.
  • NYCDSC Sports is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
